Grilling with Rialto’s Jody Adams

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of taking a cooking class with James Beard Award-winning chef, Jody Adams, of Rialto in Cambridge, Massachusetts. My dear friend Erica surprised me by signing us up for her Farmers Market & Grilling class for my birthday.

If you have the opportunity to take one of Chef Jody’s classes, do yourself a favor and sign up NOW. She is one of the most humble, fun, and honest chefs I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Details on this class:
Each of her classes run for approximately three hours. You start out in the Rialto Bar + Lounge with coffee and scones. Normally, the class then moves to the main dining room for her demonstration, but since we were taking the special grilling class, we went outside, where there was a cooking prep station and grill set up.

Chef Jody first took us to the nearby Charles Square Farmers Market to check out the local produce and buy a few things for class. We then returned to the outdoor area, where she begin preparing our appetizer, grilled mussels. One word can perfectly sum them up: Heaven.

She then moved on to a simple roasted beet salad with greens, followed by our main course, grilled duck breast with peaches.

After the cooking demonstration was complete, we were brought onto the terrace, where we enjoyed the fruits of her labor, along with delicious wine pairings.

My thoughts on this class:
I’ve taken a lot of cooking classes around Boston, and I can honestly say that this was one of the best classes I have ever had the opportunity to learn from. Although each class is a bit pricey (cost is around $125), I think that the incredible expertise you get from Chef Jody, as well as the inclusion of the amazing multi-course meal with paired wines, is well worth it.

So if you have a food-lover in your life, consider treating them to this amazing opportunity to learn from one of the best chefs Boston has to offer. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
