Oreo brownies

Oreo browniesI know I’ve said this before, but I’m not a big sweets fan. I know this is nuts—especially since the majority of my posts are dessert recipes, but it’s something I enjoy making for my loved ones.

This recipe is in honor of my father, who unfortunately is too far away to try these little treats. My dad loves oreos—as in, he can eat an entire row of those bad boys in a single seating (Who am I kidding? Most of us could probably do the same thing). So when I found these brownies with an oreo frosting on top, I knew I needed to make them.

They’re pretty simple to make: All you need to do is prepare a box of whatever your favorite brownie mix is with oreo crumbles, and top it with a pretty basic buttercream oreo frosting. For a little extra pizzaz, top each with a half an oreo (unless you’re like my dad who has probably eaten the extra oreos already!)

1 batch of brownies with chopped up oreos added (I used the Ghirardelli brand with fudge added)

Oreo frosting:
4 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
2 tablespoons heavy cream (plus a little extra)
Approximately 8 oreos, crushed well

  1. Combine all of the frosting ingredients, except for the oreos, and beat together in a mixer until light and fluffy. You may need to add a bit more heavy cream to get a spreadable consistency.
  2. Mix in crushed oreos per your preference. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies.
  3. Add a little pizzaz by topping each brownie with an oreo half.
